Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a Level II Trauma Center in Bangor, ME, requiring 2+ years of RT experience and critical care expertise.

Details

• 411-bed Level II Trauma Center hospital setting
• Rotates through 3 Adult ICUs, Cardiac Critical Care Unit, ED, Intermediate Care Unit, and General Medical Floors
• Level III NICU & PICU coverage only if specifically posted for that unit
• 48 hours per week on a variable schedule with shift times of 0645-1915 (days) or 1845-0715 (nights)
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• Voluntary call only, 2 hours before and after shift start
• Floating limited to units traveler has trained in
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Equipment includes Servo U, Servo I, Hamilton T1, Trilogy, V60, V30, EV300, and Vero Biotech Nitric Delivery (Drager used in NICU only)

Requirements

• RRT required; CRT considered only with extensive experience and manager approval
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• BLS required for adult RT; NRP required and PALS preferred for NICU/PICU/Peds RT
• License required if applicable
• Compact or Maine RT license required for consideration
• Critical care experience including airway and ventilator management, ABG puncture and analysis, non-invasive ventilation, code blue/rapid response, and inhaled medication administration
• NICU/PICU/Peds RT positions require both pediatric and adult experience
• Familiarity with Oscillator 3100 Sensormatic and Drager ventilator helpful for NICU/PICU/Peds roles
• Flu vaccination required for clearance to start, with medical exemptions only considered

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory therapy services within a highly critical care focused, protocol-driven RT team
• Support available from Lead/Charge, Manager, Assistant Manager, RT Educator, and Medical Director
• Orientation includes 1 general shift with RT Educator plus 1 shift per additional trained unit (typically 4-5 total)
• Holiday coverage as assigned unless RTO is specified in contract
• All RTO requests must be approved through the Manager
• Scrubs may be any professional color or pattern, with access to on-site OR scrub machines
• Free on-site parking provided
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Candidates who have previously worked in a permanent capacity at any Northern Light Health hospital will not be considered
• Local candidates accepted only if residing 100+ miles South/SW of the facility; case-by-case approval required for those north of this radius
