Description

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Trauma ICU RN with prior trauma and surgical ICU experience for a night shift position at a Level I Trauma Center in Asheville, NC.

Details

• Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU) unit within a Level I Trauma Center hospital
• 20-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 6-week self-scheduling format requiring 6 weekend shifts
• Uses Cerner PowerChart for documentation
• Utilizes specialized equipment including EVDs, Camino/bolts, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, GE Carescape monitors, GE ventilators, iCool machines, Blanketrol, Bair Hugger, Prisma Max CRRT, Zoll, Kangaroo feeding pumps, and Alaris PCA pumps
• Travelers float before core staff and may float to other ICUs (MICU, NSICU, CVICU, CICU) or Step Down

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Trauma ICU experience required (Level I or Level II Trauma Center)
• Surgical ICU experience required
• LTAC experience not considered
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Care for critically ill surgical and trauma ICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions
• Perform or assist with procedures such as intubation, extubation, chest tube placement, central line and A-line placement, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, proning, CRRT/HD, EVD/bolt placement, and minor surgery
• Work within a Magnet-designated, ACS Verified Level I Trauma Center
• Modified self-scheduling offered for added flexibility
• Dress code requires all navy or all white scrubs, or navy bottoms with a white top
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• First-time travelers may be considered
