Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Clinic RN for a Hematology & Leukemia outpatient clinic requiring at least 2 years of oncology nursing experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Outpatient Hematology & Leukemia Oncology Clinic setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Daily census of 50-75 patients
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM
• Floating required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Patient diagnoses include CLL, CML, hemoglobinopathies, myeloproliferative disease, thrombotic disorders, aplastic anemia, ALL, AML, and MDS

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, OCN, and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, central line and PICC line care
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies including ATLS, hemorrhage, and sepsis
• Skilled in symptom management including nausea, neuropathy, and altered mental status
• Experience administering chemotherapy including oral chemo administration
• Knowledge of neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols
• Experience with pain management including IV push narcotics
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or director and no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care and education to oncology patients and families
• Coordinate care and recognize/communicate abnormal lab values
• Administer medications including antiemetics and Neupogen
• Perform phlebotomy and central line blood draws as needed
• Recognize and manage side effects of biotherapy treatments
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment only after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current facility employees are ineligible for this travel position
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
