Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital assignment requiring compact IA licensure, prior travel experience, and post-op/spine care skills.

Details

• 30-bed Med Surg unit caring for med surg and post-op/spine patients
• Night shift, Mon-Fri, 3x12-hour shifts totaling 36 hrs/week
• Weekend rotation required every third weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Utilizes heparin drips as part of unit protocols
• Uses Epic EMR
• Required to float across multiple hospital campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of Med Surg/medical-surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting required
• Minimum 24 months of operating room experience required
• Strong heparin experience required
• Post-op/operating surgical experience required
• Spine care experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 3 months of current travel nursing experience within the past 12 months required (no first-time travelers)
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a 30-bed Med Surg unit specializing in post-op and spine care cases
• Scrubs required: solid navy blue
• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration based on driver's license address
• Prior UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible for travel assignments at other UPH markets within 12 months of separation
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
