Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) role requiring cardiac/telemetry expertise and a minimum of one prior travel contract.

Details

• Cardiology PCU unit with a 24-bed capacity
• Patient population includes CABG, ICD, pacemaker, cardiac drip, and vascular surgical patients
• Patient ratios are 1:4 (days) and 1:6 (nights)
• Days shift, 3x12-hour shifts totaling 36 hrs/week
• Required to work every 4th weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float across all campuses (Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist West) within contracted unit/skillset
• Uses Epic EMR
• Tele tech unit monitoring utilized
• Uses Alaris IV pump and wound vac equipment

Requirements

• Active RN license (Iowa or compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of Telemetry/Cardiac, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience required
• Experience with ICD and pacemaker patient populations required
• Experience caring for CABG and vascular surgical patients required
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation experience required
• Cardiac drip/titration experience required
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 18 months (no first-time travelers)
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring and titration of drips such as Nitro, Cardene, Heparin, Diltiazem, and Dopamine
• Care for patients following CABG and vascular surgery, as well as those with ICDs and pacemakers
• Navy blue, solid-color scrubs required
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) unless the unit is closed
• Limited time-off requests permitted during the Thanksgiving and winter holiday periods
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN) may be restricted from travel assignments in other markets depending on separation history
