Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU Registered Nurse with Level III/IV NICU experience for a day shift position requiring a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Level III/IV NICU setting with 77 beds and average census of 50
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
- Block scheduling available for candidates preferring 3 or more consecutive shifts
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Cares for neonates ranging from <24 weeks to >34 weeks gestation
- Attends high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
- Uses CPAP/BiPap, high frequency vents, oscillators, and standard ventilators
- Performs blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket therapy, feeding tube placement, and PICC/central line care
- Rarely admits patients due to dedicated Admit Nurse role
- Rarely floats, but may float to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN, or to Pediatrics/NBN caring for newborns only
- Epic EMR preferred
Requirements
- Active WA state or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of submission
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required (Level III for 3+ years or Level IV for 2+ years)
- Skills required: IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, central line/implanted line care, gastrointestinal feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube placement and management, medication administration including emergency medications, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
Additional Information
- Must be open to floating to different campuses within the system
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
- Former Providence permanent employees must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify, and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible as a returning traveler
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
- Candidates must respond to a question regarding any prior work history with Providence facilities (permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem)
- First-time travelers not considered for this position
