Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a fast-paced night shift unit requiring 2+ years of cardiac tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit serving as the facility's primary cardiac and stroke unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• Target patient ratio of 1:5-6, with potential to fluctuate up to 6 patients during surges
• High patient turnover, averaging 78-90 patients per week per unit
• Team lead available to assist with admissions and discharges
• Every other weekend required, including 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays within a 6-week period
• Floating required within or near the facility
• On-call requirement with frequency dependent on patient census
• Self-scheduling with leadership oversight; no block scheduling
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC (Dimensions), and SBAR communication
• Care includes pre/post cardiac catheterization, pacemaker/ICD implantation, TR bands, and stable CHF, dysrhythmia, and new CVA/TIA patients
• Manages multiple cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone with titration capability
• Unit may house COVID-positive patients using Optiflow and BiPAP for chronic, stable use only

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Telemetry experience required (PCU experience alone not accepted)
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Must be comfortable with fast-paced, high-turnover cardiac unit acuity and staffing ratios
• Skills required: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management and titration, pre/post-procedure cardiac care
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references accepted at submission)

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to stable pre/post cardiac procedure patients including pacemaker, ICD, and cardiac catheterization cases
• Monitor and manage multiple cardiac drips, dysrhythmias, and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• 36 hours of unit orientation required, with availability needed every day during week one
• Navy blue or white scrubs, or a mix of both, permitted along with Novant t-shirts; jackets must match scrub material and color; no crocs with holes allowed
• First-time travelers considered if they meet the 2-year Cardiac Telemetry experience requirement
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• RTO of 7 days or less can be auto-approved if it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Contracts of 20+ weeks accepted to provide coverage through the holiday season
