Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring 2-3 years of critical care experience and WI or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in an 11-bed lower acuity ICU within a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Patient population includes general ICU, stroke (TNK), COVID, medical, surgical, behavioral health, overdose, and post cardiac arrest cases requiring ventilator management
• Patient ratios of 1:2-3 based on acuity for both day and night shifts
• 12-hour night shift schedule from 1845-0715, 36 hours per week
• CNA support at a 1:7 ratio, with no HUC in the ICU
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment
• Phlebotomy available for peripheral blood draws, with IV/VAT team support on dayshift Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
• RT and Hospitalist coverage available 24/7, with Intensivist coverage 0600-1800 and eICU coverage 1800-0600
• OT, PT, and ST support available on weekdays with variable weekend availability
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication system
• Bedside and nursing station tele monitoring with no tele tech in the ICU
• Floating required to the Cardiac unit, potentially covering up to 5 Cardiac MS patients on nightshift
• Weekend rotation of every third weekend (or every other if preferred)
• Holiday coverage on a rotation basis of every other holiday
• On-call requirements vary based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2-3 years of ICU experience required
• Skilled in reading and interpreting cardiac strips
• Experience with ventilators, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and line management required
• Proning experience required
• Comfortable floating to a Cardiac unit
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• One shift of orientation provided to learn unit flow
• Scrub color is flexible as long as professional in appearance
