Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and current TNCC/NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Level 1 Trauma Center emergency department with 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, and 5 behavioral health holding beds
• Average census of 200-220 patients per day
• Fast-paced regional trauma center receiving frequent air flight transports
• Treats ESI 1-5 patients including trauma, stroke, STEMI, burn, GSW, MVC, MI, CVA, overdose, and cardiac/respiratory arrest cases
• RN patient ratios range from 3:1 to 6:1 based on acuity and clinical area
• 12-hour night shifts (1930-0730), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• May float to the ED Transition Care Unit
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Phillips monitors, and GE ultrasound/EKG equipment
• Support staff includes ED techs, unit secretary, charge nurse, resource/pod nurses, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience required
• Minimum 12 months of experience in emergency nursing within the last year
• First-time travelers considered only with 3+ years of Level 1 trauma center experience
• Epic EMR experience required
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care across all acuity levels using evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making
• Unit currently in the second of three renovation phases, with future addition of two fixed-wing helicopter pads
• Travelers are not likely to be utilized in trauma bays during initial contracts
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Scrub color required: Royal Blue
• Free parking available on-site
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
• Returning travelers must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
• Manager will conduct a final clinical interview
