Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/PCU position requiring cardiac drip proficiency and prior travel experience.

Details

• PCU/Telemetry unit with Medical, Surgical, Overflow, and Observation floors
• Patient population includes stroke r/o, chest pain, arrhythmias, abdominal pain, post-surgicals, altered mental status, dehydration, AKI, CHF, GI hemorrhage, and sepsis
• Patient ratios are 1:4 on PCU, Overflow, and Observation, and 1:5 (occasionally 1:6) on Medical and Surgical units
• Floats between PCU, Observation, Overflow, Medical, and Surgical floors as needed, with rare floats to ICU for lower acuity holds or ER for boarders
• Nurse aides/patient care techs support units at ratios of 1:8-11 depending on unit
• RT equipment on unit includes CPAP and high flow oxygen
• RNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips with off-site monitoring support
• 12-hour day shifts from 7a-7p
• Minimum of 4 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• No on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• 1-2 years of RN experience with proficiency in neuro assessments and basic cardiac drips
• Experience titrating cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin drips required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must be able to read/interpret telemetry strips and pass an ECG exam

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across PCU, Telemetry, Medical, Surgical, Overflow, and Observation units based on hospital needs
• Responsible for titrating cardiac drips and responding to changes in patient respiratory or cardiac status
• Orientation includes 3 shifts across 3 different units in addition to general facility orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• Holiday team members may be required to work based on facility need
