Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of LDRP experience and WI or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the Women's Health and OB Services unit of a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center hospital
• Unit includes 12 LDRP beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 ORs, and a 10-bed Level II NICU
• Average census of 60-80 births per month
• Patient population primarily lower risk, 32 weeks gestation and above
• Common conditions include hypertension, magnesium administration, substance abuse medication management, epidurals, elevated BMI, and diabetes
• RN continues post-delivery care for mother and baby in the same room
• Patient ratios: 1:1 laboring, 1:2 active labor, 1:3 couplets
• 12-hour night shifts (0645-1915 or 1845-0715), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
• Holiday rotation required every other holiday
• No floating required
• EPIC EMR preferred
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and QS Centricity monitors

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years LDRP experience required
• BLS, NRP, and intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring certifications required
• Proficient in cervical exams, amnio infusions, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV starts/management, Pitocin administration, and newborn delivery/receiving
• Comfortable managing all aspects of postpartum care from transition to discharge for mother and baby
• Basic breastfeeding education skills required
• Post-women's surgeries experience preferred
• Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Deliver comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum care including fetal monitoring and newborn care
• Support team includes 2 techs, charge nurse who takes patients, phlebotomy, 24/7 L&D anesthesia, 24/7 NNP, on-call OBGYNs, 24/7 RT, 24/7 hospitalist, and daytime lactation consultant
• Unit orientation includes NEO plus 1-2 days depending on comfortability
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

• RTO requests of up to 7 days can be approved
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
