Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position specializing in acute leukemia and hematology care, requiring an Ohio or compact RN license.
Details
- PCU unit focused on acute leukemia and hematology care
- 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
- Care for adult and geriatric patients, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
- Target staffing ratio of 1:4, with potential for 1:5
- Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
- Rotating contract may include days, nights, or a mix, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
- Uses Epic charting system
- Chemo certification not required
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of current, consistent acute care experience within the last 12 months
- At least 1 year of PCU experience required
- Oncology experience preferred; training provided for oncology patients
- Skilled in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs
- Experience with central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care and management
- Experience with blood product administration and central line blood draws
- Feeding tube care and management experience
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Epic charting experience required
Additional Information
- Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
- Utilizes Rapid Response Teams as needed
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees are ineligible for a travel assignment at this facility
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references not accepted
- RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
