Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high risk, high volume unit requiring at least 1 year of high-acuity L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• High risk, high volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• 4 operating rooms on the unit
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and sister facilities providing Mother/Baby care
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of high risk L&D experience required, though 3 years in high acuity, fast-paced environments is strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in high risk delivery, C-section circulation, hemorrhage/shock management, and vaginal delivery assistance
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, insulin drips, and anticoagulation therapy
• Experience functioning as Baby Nurse during delivery and providing newborn care including assessments, eye care, and Vitamin K injections
• Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and hemorrhage management
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Circulates for C-sections and provides newborn care including eye care, thigh injections, and assessments
• Provides high risk antepartum and postpartum care in a fast-paced, high acuity environment
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Pre-approved time off is granted on a case-by-case basis and should be requested upfront
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• Former permanent employees of Providence facilities may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff
• Travelers may be required to float to sister facilities within the health system
