Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring high-risk L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Serves midwifery clients, private OBs, Adult Recovery Services (substance recovery), and community care clinic patients
• Utilizes electronic fetal monitoring and Epic EMR (Epic experience required)
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Float requirement to Post Partum/Antepartum units and to sister facilities offering Mother/Baby care
• Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Circulates for deliveries including C-sections
• Administers high-risk medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of submission
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum 1 year of L&D experience required
• High-risk L&D experience required
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
• Skills required include labor and delivery management, amnioinfusion, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, hemorrhage/shock management, and sterile vaginal exams
• Newborn care skills required including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, ID/security banding, and neonatal resuscitation
• Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and management of postpartum hemorrhage
• Familiarity with pain management modalities including epidural anesthesia and opioid administration
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required

• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• 50-mile local radius rule applies
• Former permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem roles
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be granted
