Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring at least 1.5 years of NICU experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Level III NICU within a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• 54-bed NICU caring for premature infants and unstable newborns requiring medical or surgical care
• RN to patient ratio of 1:2 with no CNAs on the unit
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), three shifts per week
• Weekend rotation every third weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required between Oak Lawn and Park Ridge campuses for NICU-appropriate assignments, with possible float to pediatric inpatient unit or other system NICUs
• Uses EPIC, Pyxis, Alaris, and Phillips monitor systems
• 24/7 RT and Neonatologist support on the unit
• Charge nurse is free-floating with no CNA support

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of NICU experience required
• Experience with SERVO and HFOV ventilators, traches, chest tubes, and inhaled nitric oxide (iNO)
• Experience with umbilical and arterial lines and drips
• Experience with NG, G-tube, and enteral feeds
• EPIC EMR experience required
• At least one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill infants requiring surgical or medical intervention
• One shift of orientation on the unit with another RN
• Scrubs provided on-site for infection prevention purposes
• Each patient assigned an individual stethoscope for infection control
• Free parking available
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
• Time off requests must be approved through the unit manager
• Holiday coverage required as needed
