Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a busy, high-acuity emergency department requiring a WA or compact license and at least 1 year of trauma-setting experience.
Details
- Acute care setting in a 56-bed Emergency Department (60-70s with hall beds)
- Fast track area with 6 beds and a separate 5-bed triage area
- 18 beds designated within the ED for holding inpatients awaiting bed placement
- ER RNs manage their own ER holds, with inpatient RNs floating to assist as needed
- Locked hallway with 6 private psych/seclusion treatment rooms
- In-house security available
- Approximately 170-200 patients per day
- Patient ratios of 1:3, or 1:4 for lower acuity patients
- Common diagnoses include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory, abdominal pain, and mental health cases
- ED physicians, mid-levels, charge nurses, and house supervisors on staff
- ED Techs and CNAs from inpatient units support 1:1 sitter needs
- Telemetry monitoring available with monitor techs; RNs read strips
- Radiology located adjacent to the ED with transport assistance available
- RTs manage ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and complete ABGs; ED Techs perform EKGs
- Nurse or ED Tech performs primary blood draws with lab assistance for difficult draws
- Uses Epic EMR
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a-730p, with every other weekend required
- No floating required
- No call or standby requirement, though extra shifts may be available
Requirements
- Active WA state or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a larger trauma center setting required
- BSN not required
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of high-acuity patient presentations
- Must work assigned holidays in November/December, with consideration for adjusting 1 of 3 holidays based on unit needs
- Professional-colored scrubs permitted
- Two-day orientation including 1 day of compliance training (8-10 hours) and 1 day of department-specific orientation (12 hours)
- No RTO permitted during the first full week of the assignment
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts over a 13-week assignment
