Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Surgical ICU position requiring a VA or compact RN license and prior SICU experience.
Details
- 15-bed Surgical/Trauma ICU in a Level I trauma teaching hospital
- Adult surgical and trauma critical care patient population
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required, must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
- Must adhere to facility float policy, floating within scope of practice as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required; TNCC preferred
- Minimum 1 year of SICU experience required
- BSN preferred
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/PICC line care
- Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Experience titrating vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation
- Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Chest tube insertion/removal assistance, EVD/ICP monitoring, and Swan-Ganz monitoring experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to surgical and trauma ICU patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed early to plan an appropriate start date
- Specialty-specific orientation modules required, completed during onboarding
- Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning as travelers
- External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
