Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level 1 trauma center, requiring PALS certification and prior PICU experience.

Details

• Level 1 trauma acute care setting in a 16-bed ICU and 16-bed Intermediate unit
• Pediatric ICU serving Medical/Surgical/Neuro and CV ICU patients with all diagnoses combined
• Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7:30a)
• Every other weekend required (Fri/Sat nights or Sat/Sun days)
• May work 1 significant and 1 insignificant holiday depending on assignment dates
• Floating to PICU and lower levels of care required on a rotating basis; NICU floating is optional; full teams float together
• No call or standby requirements
• Free charge RN and house supervisor on every shift
• Intensivists, APPs, and Residents in-house 24/7
• Dedicated PCT support for the unit
• 24/7 monitor tech support with bedside Phillips monitors
• Uses Avia and Servo U ventilators as well as home vents (Trilogy and LTV)
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, or proof that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 2 years of PICU experience preferred, with Intermediate-level consideration for candidates with less experience
• Must be able to recognize cardiac rhythm changes and understand associated interventions
• Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels as part of a drug-free campus policy

Additional Information

• Provide direct pediatric ICU nursing care across a range of diagnoses including medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiovascular cases
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 3-4 twelve-hour shifts
• No scrub color or dress code restrictions, though attire should be child-friendly
• COVID vaccination is not required
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local pay rate
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
