Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position at a Level 1 trauma center, requiring PALS certification and prior PICU experience.

Details

• Level 1 trauma acute care setting in a combined Medical/Surgical/Neuro/CV PICU with 16 ICU and 16 Intermediate beds
• Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required (Fri/Sat night or Sat/Sun day)
• May require working 1 significant and 1 insignificant holiday depending on assignment dates
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to PICU and lower levels of care by turn; NICU floating optional; full team floating when applicable
• EPIC EMR used
• Dedicated charge RN and house supervisor on every shift; intensivists, APPs, and residents in house 24/7
• 1 PCT covering the entire PICU unit
• 24/7 monitor tech support with bedside Philips monitors
• Uses Avia, Servo U, and Home Vent Trilogy/LTV ventilator equipment

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 2 years of PICU experience preferred, otherwise Intermediate-level placement will be considered
• Must be able to recognize cardiac rhythm changes and implement associated interventions
• Negative drug screen required for all panels per facility Drug-Free Campus policy

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients across medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiovascular diagnoses
• 3-4 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• No scrub color restrictions; dress code should be child-friendly
• COVID vaccination not required for this facility
• Local rate applies for candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility; no radius restriction on eligibility
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience level
