Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma center, requiring at least 2 years of PICU experience and PALS certification.
Details
- Level 1 trauma acute care setting in a combined Medical/Surgical/Neuro/CV PICU treating all diagnoses
- 16 ICU beds and 16 intermediate care beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required (Fri/Sat night shift or Sat/Sun day shift)
- May require working 1 significant and 1 insignificant holiday depending on assignment dates
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to PICU and lower levels of care by turn; NICU floating is optional; full team floats are accepted
- Free-standing charge RN available 24/7 and house supervisor available 24/7
- 1 PCT supports the entire PICU unit
- Intensivists, APPs, and Residents in house 24/7
- Uses Avia, Servo U, and Trilogy/LTV home ventilators for respiratory equipment
- Bedside Phillips monitors with 24/7 monitor tech support
- Epic EMR used
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- BLS and PALS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required; candidates with less experience may be considered for Intermediate unit placement
- Must be able to recognize cardiac rhythm changes and understand associated interventions
- Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric ICU patients across medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiovascular diagnoses
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3-4 12-hour shifts
- No scrub color restrictions, though attire should be child-friendly
- Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
- No radius rule restricts eligibility for this position
- COVID vaccination is not required for this position
