Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and a Level I Trauma Center background.

Details

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric population
• Level I Trauma Center, stroke-certified, and STEMI-certified facility
• Patient ratio of 1:3.5
• Uses EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication dispensing
• Float required
• Every other or every third weekend required
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Must be comfortable with triage, dysrhythmia interpretation, emergency medications, and procedural sedation
• Experience with ventilated patients, trauma, psych holds, and pediatric emergency care required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience administering emergency medications and IV vasopressors
• Ability to obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role and no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult/pediatric patient population
• Perform triage, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response duties
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing
