Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit role requiring ACLS, BLS, and prior stroke/post cardiac cath care experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting across two units, 630 (34 beds) and 633 (25 beds)
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
• Unit staffed with 2-3 techs to assist with patient care
• Uses equipment including BiPAP, high flow O2, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac/heparin/insulin drips, and peritoneal dialysis systems
• Wound vac management performed in conjunction with wound care team
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Scheduled for three 12-hour shifts per week with an every other weekend requirement
• Self-scheduling available on 4-week schedules
• May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors
• Hourly rounding required on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights
• Communication boards used on 7th floor units, with TV communication boards on 633

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1 year of recent experience in PCU specialty required
• Experience with BiPAP, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems required
• Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath patient care required
• Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tube management required
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required for Florida and Missouri candidates)

Additional Information

• Provide direct care for PCU patients including those requiring peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, Dobhoff/NG tube insertions, and central line dressing changes
• Assist with troubleshooting wound vacs in coordination with wound care team
• Utilize AIDET communication standards and maintain patient experience practices
• Work alongside unit techs who assist with patient care
• Black scrubs required as part of dress code
• Strong teamwork and family-like culture on the unit, with most travelers extending their assignments
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
