Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk OB unit requiring at least 2 years of recent experience and float flexibility across multiple units.

Details

• Work in a Labor & Delivery unit within a short-term acute care hospital with 418 staffed beds
• Care for high-risk OB, postpartum, and high-risk antepartum patients with 200-300 births per month
• Patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:3 depending on acuity
• Night (3x12, 3:00-15:00) or Evening (3x12, 15:00-3:00) shifts, with 12-hour start times at 3am/3pm or 11am/11pm
• Primarily scheduled on days or nights with advance notice given for changes
• Required to work every other weekend and available for on-call if a shift is cancelled
• 48-hour work weeks approved
• Required to float between units based on facility needs and to sister facilities within the region as needed
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
• AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation required
• Experience with EFM (external fetal monitoring) and antepartum care procedures required
• Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives required
• Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, High Risk Antepartum, and Postpartum/Mother-Baby units
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and C-sections, including recovery care
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
• Manage pain interventions including epidural anesthesia and nitrous oxide administration
• Provide care for patients with pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, and postpartum hemorrhage
• Scrubs are facility-provided for this unit
• Floating to sister facilities within the region may be required, with incentive pay and mileage reimbursement offered for certain float assignments
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Radius requirement of 50 miles applies for eligibility
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
