Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 24 months of med surg/tele experience and charge experience, with an active IA or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
• Bed size of 24 with patient ratios of 4-5:1
• Patient population includes general med surg care with overflow of post-op surgical hip/knee patients and occasional psych patient overflow
• Utilizes heparin drips and remote tele tech unit monitoring
• Days shift, 4x12 hr schedule, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week can be accommodated if preferred)
• Weekend rotation required every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/census
• No on-call requirements
• Float required across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of Med Surg/Med Surg Tele experience required
• Charge experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with post-op surgical hip/knee patients required
• Experience caring for psych patients preferred
• Precept experience is a plus
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide med surg nursing care including overflow post-op surgical hip/knee and occasional psych patients
• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
• Limited to 1 day off request between 11/26-11/30 and 12/23-1/2 regardless of holidays worked
• No blocked shifts allowed
• Scrubs required in navy blue, solid color
• Department prefers candidates able and willing to extend beyond the initial 13-week contract
• First-time travelers accepted
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license
• Past UPH FTE or PRN float pool employees are restricted from travel assignments in other UPH markets within 12 months of separation; this restriction does not apply to prior travel employees
