Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg and Rehab unit requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least one year of relevant clinical experience.
Details
- 33-bed adult Med Surg/Inpatient Rehab unit with no telemetry
- Patient ratios of 1:6, flexing up to 1:7
- Common diagnoses include SCVA, SCI, TBI, amputee, and multi-trauma cases
- 3x12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block
- Required to float to nearby facility Med Surg units (11W, 10W, 9W, and 5W) as needed
- EPIC charting experience preferred
Requirements
- Active VA State or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted only for non-compact single-state candidates)
- BLS certification required
- CRRN certification preferred
- CPI Blue certification highly preferred
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- Experience in Med Surg and Rehab settings required
- Skilled in peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, and isolation precautions
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and rapid response/code teams
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to Med Surg and Inpatient Rehab patients with complex diagnoses including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and multi-trauma
- Must work at least one holiday per 13-week contract, with two holidays required during winter holiday periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted, with limited exceptions for candidates living 50-99.9 miles or under 50 miles who may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
- Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler
- Travelers who have worked 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, subject to case-by-case review by facility leadership
