Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Mother Baby/Post Partum unit requiring 2 years of Level 3+ L&D experience and an active SD or compact RN license.

Details

• Level 3 Labor and Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED/Triage beds, and 4 Antepartum rooms
• Cares for high-risk to low-intervention laboring patients, antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and infants
• Patient ratios: 1:3 antepartum, 1:2 inactive labor, 1:1 active labor, and 1:3 couplets for postpartum
• Utilizes EPIC for charting
• 12-hour variable shifts, rotating between days and nights throughout the contract
• Some positions may be posted for straight nights
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating to Postpartum/Couplet care required throughout the contract
• May be placed on low census call
• Holiday coverage required as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (SD or Compact) required
• BLS and NRP certification required
• ACLS and certification in inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum preferred
• Minimum 2 years Level 3 or higher Labor and Delivery experience required
• Competency managing high acuity labor patients, including preeclampsia, preterm labor and delivery, and antepartum patients under 35 weeks gestation
• Experience with IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, insulin administration, circulating C-sections, and C-section recovery care
• Must be comfortable caring for couplets and normal newborn nursery (Level I) patients
• Experience with Level II NICU patients preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Completion of an approved nursing education program

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursery populations
• Support team includes a Unit Secretary, Scrub Tech, Charge Nurse, VAT team, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, OB Physician team, and Anesthesia/CRNA
• Orientation includes NEO plus 4 days with a preceptor (3 in L&D, 1 in PP)
• May be expected to precept nursing students
• Cobalt blue scrubs provided by the hospital
