Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a pediatric/neonatal night shift position requiring 2+ years of PICU/NICU experience.

Details

• Acute care setting within a children's hospital respiratory therapy department
• Covers NICU and PICU units treating pediatric and neonatal patients
• Handles 20-25 treatments per day
• Uses Hamilton and Servo ventilators, Respironics and Hamilton BiPAP, and Fisher Paykel high flow nasal cannula equipment
• Performs aerogen, Volara, cough assist, IPV, NAVA, airway management, and intrahospital transport
• Assists with intubation only, does not perform independently
• 12-hour night shifts
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 4-week schedule (Fri, Sat, Sun)
• Possible holiday coverage
• No call or standby call requirement
• No floating required
• Team-based staffing model with multiple RTs per shift, hospitalist/intensivist in house
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• RRT preferred, CRT may be considered
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PICU and/or Level 4 or greater NICU
• License required if applicable
• 7 years of work history (or since graduation) with no employment gaps greater than 30 days
• 2 professional references, including 1 supervisor and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference
• Skills checklist completed within the past year
• Copies of certifications and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care for pediatric and neonatal patients across NICU and PICU settings
• Work alongside a collaborative respiratory therapy team with in-house hospitalist/intensivist support
• Department-specific orientation provided, with length dependent on prior experience
• Stone/light gray scrub color required
• Radius rules apply: local travelers not permitted within 50 miles of most WVU facilities (100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital)
• Returning travelers must observe a 2-year break between WVU assignments; certain facilities do not permit former perm staff to return as travelers
• Travelers may not work within WVU system for longer than one year without a 2-year break, with cumulative experience applied
