Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for an acute care operating room requiring 2-3 years of specialty and travel experience along with robotics and Epic experience.
Details
- Acute care Operating Room setting with 9 ORs, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid room
- Average of 35-45 cases per day
- Handles a wide variety of surgical cases including general, ENT, eyes, ortho/spine (Davinci and Rosa robotics), vascular, trauma, emergent, and select pediatric cases
- Does not cover CVOR or L&D/C-sections
- Evening shift, 8 hours x 5 days, Monday-Friday, 3P-11:30P
- Weekend call rotation and holiday call rotation as needed
- Floating to outpatient surgery required as needed
- Uses Epic EMR
- Charge nurse/house supervisor coverage 7a-7p, with travelers rotating through charge responsibilities
- Night shift requires RN to work independently with only 2 techs and no additional RN support
- One weeknight on-call shift 7p-7a required, rotation varies
- One weekend 24-hour on-call shift (7a-7p) required per month
- 30-minute call response time required
- Scrubs provided for RN's and OR Techs
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required; PALS preferred
- 2-3 years of OR specialty experience required
- 2-3 previous travel assignments required
- Ortho experience required
- Experience with robotics, specifically passing arms in and out, required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must have experience across all specialties for evening/night shift coverage
- Scrubbing experience is a plus but not required
Additional Information
- Unit is staffed almost entirely by traveling RNs
- OR techs are responsible for room turnover; no aides or housekeeping support available
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts over 1 week
- Candidates with minimal experience in one service line may be considered if willing to learn or receive a refresher for certain shifts (M-F 7-3:30)
- 11-11, 3-11, and night shifts require full breadth of specialty experience
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for travel positions
- Previous permanent employees must have a 2-year break before reapplying
- Previous travelers who completed a full year must have a 2-year break before returning
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
- First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
