Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position at a Level 3 Trauma Center, requiring an active IA or compact RN license and NIHSS certification.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (Post Critical Care) in a Level 3 Trauma Center hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:4, occasionally up to 1:5
• Patient population includes CHF, ablation, angiogram, TCAR, EVAR, DKA, stroke, pacemaker, and sepsis cases
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Floating required to the ED and all inpatient units, including across local campuses within the same discipline
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (Iowa or compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA preferred; ARC or US Military accepted)
• Current NIHSS certification required
• Valid driver's license required
• Skills checklist specific to PCU required
• One supervisory reference or performance evaluation from within the last two years required

Additional Information

• Contribute clinical knowledge and skills as part of an interdisciplinary care team managing PCU patients
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
• Prior UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments in another market within 12 months
• Required to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
• Limited to 1 day off request during peak holiday blackout periods (11/26/25-11/30/25 and 12/23/25-1/2/26)
