Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a 13-week assignment requiring at least one year of PACU experience and ACLS/PALS certification.

Details

• Work in the PACU Recovery Room providing post-anesthesia nursing care
• Monitor patients recovering from general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
• Manage airway, respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and pain status during recovery
• Administer oxygen, IV fluids, pain medications, antiemetics, and other ordered medications
• Assess patient readiness for discharge or transfer per PACU recovery criteria
• Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, OR staff, and interdisciplinary care team
• Shift schedule from 06:45 to 17:15
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or compact) required
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Current ACLS certification (AHA) required
• PALS certification required based on patient population
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Strong airway assessment and management skills
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia medications, pain management, and surgical complications
• Ability to independently manage patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity recovery environment
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start

Additional Information

• Recent Phase I and Phase II PACU experience preferred
• Experience recovering patients from general, regional, and MAC anesthesia preferred
• Experience across varied surgical specialties and patient acuity levels preferred
• Critical care or ICU nursing background preferred
• Experience with airway emergencies and post-anesthesia complications preferred
• Electronic medical record documentation experience preferred
• Provide post-operative education and discharge instructions to patients and families
• Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation
• Follow patient-safety, medication-safety, and infection-prevention standards
• Assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and PACU bed availability
• Accepts local candidates, though a radius rule may apply to travel pay rate eligibility
• Must have a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address
