Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery/LDRP position requiring ND or compact licensure and fetal strip interpretation skills.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 15-bed LDRP unit (7 L&D, 8 postpartum) with 1 OR suite for C-sections
• Approximately 58 births per month
• Follows AWHONN ratio guidelines: 1:1 for pitocin, magnesium, or insulin drips, and 1:3 for couplet care
• Mixed obstetric/neonatal patient population including hypertension and gestational diabetes cases; typically no deliveries under 36 weeks
• Day shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (0645-1915 or 1845-0715), 36 hours per week
• Charge nurse present on every shift and takes a patient assignment
• CNAs/aides support the unit with vitals, transfers, and patient mobility
• Uses Meditech EMR and Philips telemetry monitors with TraceView/PIP fetal monitoring system
• Required to work every third weekend and every other holiday
• Call/standby requirements depend on staffing needs
• Floating required to Medsurg and ER as needed, with permanent staff typically floating first
• Block scheduling available; self-scheduling not permitted

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications preferred
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret fetal strips independently
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to follow quality metrics
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Must be able to titrate drips including pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for reading and interpreting own fetal strips without support from tele/monitor techs
• May troubleshoot RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPap, high flow) but not required to manage beyond troubleshooting
• Unit is locked; RNs remain at the desk when needed for security purposes
• Scrubs are maroon and provided by the facility; RN changes into surgical scrubs upon arrival to the unit
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Successful candidates are adaptable, strong critical thinkers, and effective communicators
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past 12 months
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional time off requests will not be approved after submission
