Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and 2+ years of experience.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 18-22 beds per pod
• Patient population includes pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic, surgical, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5 days and 1:5-6 nights
• PCT support with ratios of 1:8-10 days, 1:9-10 evenings, and 1:10-12 nights, with 3x daily nursing touchpoints for foley care, CHG bathing, and oral cares
• RNs monitor tele strips with virtual central telemetry monitoring using Philips equipment
• Manage stable Bi-pap (home regimen) and high-flow patients; RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Charge Nurse and Administrative Supervisor on each shift; Charge Nurse takes 1-2 patients
• EPIC EMR used
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required
• Low census may be called with 4-hour notice, reevaluated every 4 hours
• May float to ICU for general acute overflow or to Ottawa Campus (25 miles away) with at least 2 hours notice

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• PALS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• EPIC EMR experience

Additional Information

• Collaborate with PCTs to ensure timely completion of patient cares and communicate plan of care during touchpoints
• Unit-specific orientation typically consists of 3 shifts
• Dress code requires solid color scrubs with no prints
• Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius rule restricting eligibility
• COVID vaccination not required
• Candidates must be willing to produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of the drug-free campus policy
