Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 18-22 bed capacity
• Patient population includes medical acute cases such as pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic and general surgery, total joints, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
• Nurse to patient ratios of 1:5 days and 1:5-6 nights
• PCT support with ratios of 1:8-10 days, 1:9-10 evenings, and 1:10-12 nights, with 3x daily nursing touchpoints for foley care, CHG bathing, and oral care
• RNs monitor tele strips with virtual central telemetry monitoring using Phillips equipment
• RNs manage stable home bi-pap and high-flow patients but are not required to titrate drips
• Charge Nurse and Administrative Supervisor present on each shift, with Charge Nurse taking 1-2 patients
• EPIC EMR used
• 12-hour day shifts, 0700-1930
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required per unit holiday schedule
• Low census may be given with 4-hour notice and re-evaluated every 4 hours
• May float to ICU for general acute overflow or to Ottawa Campus (25 miles away) with at least 2 hours notice

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Negative drug screen required for all panels per facility Drug-Free Campus policy

Additional Information

• Collaborate closely with PCTs to ensure patient cares are performed and plan of care is followed
• Unit-specific orientation typically lasts 3 shifts
• Solid color, no-print scrubs required
• Local rate applies to candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius rule restricting eligibility
• COVID vaccination not required
