Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN with charge nurse experience for a critical access hospital in a rural setting on night shifts.

Details

• Cross-trained ER/Medsurg/Swing Bed unit in a critical access hospital
• ER has 2 beds and Medsurg has 10 beds
• ER nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4; Medsurg ratio is 1:5 days and 1:6 nights
• ER patient population includes trauma, stroke, STEMI, chest pain, respiratory diagnoses, and lacerations
• Medsurg patient population spans pediatric to geriatric, including pneumonia, UTIs, observation, and short-term swing bed patients
• Common drips include Heparin and Levophed
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
• Nurse aides available on Medsurg at 1:8 ratio; not available in ER
• RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips
• Uses MEDITECH EMR
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts (1830-0700)
• Every other weekend and every third holiday required
• Self/team scheduling available
• Floats between ER, Medsurg, and Swing Bed units as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (ND state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of ER experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC, all currently active
• Critical access hospital experience strongly preferred
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Successful candidates demonstrate teamwork, communication, flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work under pressure
• One 12-hour shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not currently be employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
