Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units, requiring an active MA RN license and Level I trauma experience.
Details
- Float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units within a 600-bed facility
- Specialties include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, GYN, GU, hips and joints, oncology, and transplant (liver, kidney, vascular)
- Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Unit-specific procedures include 12-lead EKGs, Lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
- RNs administer nebulizers while RT manages ventilators
- 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with every-other-weekend and holiday requirements
- Schedule combines 8- and 12-hour shifts, with some weeks including one 12-hour shift and three 8-hour shifts
- Float assignments may be given with as little as two hours' notice and typically last 2-3 weeks
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required in hand at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
- Minimum 3+ years of related RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Level I trauma center experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred
- Basic computer literacy and ability to navigate web-based applications required
- Copy of flu vaccination required during flu season
Additional Information
- Assigned to the medical-surgical float pool supporting multiple specialty units
- Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays
- Must complete pass/fail Tele/ECG and Medication testing
- Required vaccinations include COVID (with booster) and flu, with medical exemptions allowed
- Any color scrubs permitted
- Parking near the facility can cost up to $43 per day; public transportation is available
- No more than three days of RTO will be approved, and no holiday RTO will be granted
- Previous BILH employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must complete a 6-month break before returning
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify
