Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an LDRP unit position on nights, requiring 2 years of LDRP/L&D experience and NRP/STABLE certification.

Details

• LDRP unit in a Critical Access Hospital women's services department
• 6-bed secure unit combining labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
• 1 dedicated OR suite on the unit for C-sections
• Approximately 160 births per year (12-17 per month)
• Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines with 2 RNs per shift
• Cares for laboring and postpartum patients including high-risk and critical cases, inductions, hypertensive crisis, and hemorrhage protocol
• No twin or triplet deliveries; unit stabilizes and transfers as needed
• RNs serve as newborn nurse during C-sections, caring for mom and baby during initial couplet care
• RNs required to titrate drips such as Mag and Pitocin
• EPIC EMR used for charting; Centricity used for EFM
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with self-scheduling among core staff
• Weekend and holiday requirements equitably distributed with core staff
• No call or standby requirement
• First to float among staff, potentially to other departments in a safe, supportive capacity
• No dedicated nurse aides or surgical techs currently on the unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (ID or compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced certification required
• Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required, or strong recent L&D experience combined with some LDRP/postpartum experience within the last few years
• Must be comfortable managing laboring patients autonomously, especially during nights and weekends
• Newborn stabilization skills required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Works alongside a shared hospitalist and on-call pediatrician (in-house days M-F, on-call nights/weekends)
• OB providers are based in clinic M-F and called in for laboring patients
• Anesthesia available on-call with a 30-minute response time
• Core St. Luke's nurse typically serves as charge nurse, with house supervisor support available
• 1 day of facility orientation plus EPIC training and 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Surgical scrubs required in delivery settings; personal scrubs otherwise permitted
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• No local candidates accepted
• Former permanent employees must have been away for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
