Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3 years of L&D experience and an active RN or compact license.

Details

• Acute care Women's Services unit with 14 L&D beds where patients stay in the same room throughout their stay
• 2 OR suites for C-sections requiring RNs to circulate and recover patients
• 4 triage beds staffed by traveling nurses
• Unit handles approximately 90 births per month and 1,200 per year
• Follows AWHONN staffing standards: 1:1 labor ratio (except paired cervical ripening patients), 1:3 postpartum couplet care, and 1:3 triage
• Common patient population includes 32+ week gestation, hypertensive patients on magnesium, VBAC/TOLAC, gestational diabetes, and antepartum patients
• Does not accept placenta previa or placenta accreta cases
• RNs required to titrate Pitocin, Magnesium, and occasionally insulin drip protocols
• Uses EPIC EMR and Centricity for EFM monitoring
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, with weekends as needed
• First to float among assigned travelers
• Floating required to all St. Luke's Treasure Valley sites (Meridian, Nampa, Boise) within primary skill set or as a sitter, for full shifts only
• No call or standby requirements
• No minimum weekend requirement, based on unit needs
• No guaranteed block scheduling; cannot work 6 shifts in a row

Requirements

• Active RN license (ID or compact) required at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years of L&D experience required
• Mother-baby experience required, 1 year preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE
• Experience attending deliveries, providing 1 hour of newborn care, triage, circulating C-sections, and postpartum couplet care
• Experience with magnesium protocol required
• Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor reference within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including labor support, delivery attendance, C-section circulation, and postpartum couplet care
• Admin Supervisor present on every shift; Charge RNs do not take patient assignments
• Resource RN attends all deliveries as a 'baby catcher,' performs newborn stabilization, physical assessment, and initial cares, and serves as second sign-off on medications
• 1 CST scheduled per shift; 1 CNA per shift, though CNA may be reassigned to HUC duties if needed
• OB hospitalist and Neonatal NP in house 24/7; anesthesia available 24/7
• RT available for troubleshooting respiratory equipment as needed
• 4 shifts of unit-specific orientation covering C-section, labor, and postpartum care
• Compliance training and EPIC Curio assignments must be completed prior to start
• Hospital-issued scrubs required, to be changed into and out of at shift start and end
• No fingernail lacquer, acrylic, or gel nails permitted due to NICU being embedded within several L&D rooms
• Travel duos must have two vehicles, as assignments may require different sites or floating during a shift
• Client may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
