Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and a valid CA RN license.

Details

• ICU float pool position covering multiple facility locations including Thornton (La Jolla), Jacobs (La Jolla), Hillcrest, and East Campus (La Mesa)
• May float to EDIP (emergency department inpatient overflow) within the ER
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00-19:00
• Patient population includes cardiac, neuro, general, stroke, medical, surgical, kidney and liver solid organ transplant, and trauma cases
• 4-week schedule provided two weeks in advance with no blocked or self-scheduling
• RN receives notification 2 hours before shift start indicating which facility they will work that shift
• Must be willing to work across all 3 float pool locations during the contract
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holiday periods (Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's)

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an acute care setting required
• Minimum 1 year full-time equivalent experience in ICU specialty within the past 2 years required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Required skills: arterial lines, phlebotomy, PICC lines, chest tubes, ventilator management, telemetry, and IV starts
• Preferred skills: pulmonary artery lines and ICP monitoring
• BSN preferred
• At least one supervisory/director/manager reference required from the specific unit within the last year
• A second reference required within the past 2 years from a charge nurse, co-worker, or educator

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing services across multiple ICU units within an academic health system
• Candidates may float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals based on census and unit requirements
• 7 days of RTO permitted with no RTO allowed in the first 21 days of the assignment
• Once submitted, RTO requests cannot be changed
• Former UCSD employees must disclose prior employment and be gone at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• EMR experience preferred
