Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/L&D position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and 2 years of NICU experience.
Details
- Work in the NICU/L&D unit at a children's hospital
- Home unit of NICU, PICU, or Peds assigned upon arrival, subject to change based on facility need
- Primarily assigned to Labor & Delivery
- Floating required to PICU and Peds Acute Care, as well as to affiliate hospitals nearby
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- Every other weekend required
- Cerner charting system used, experience preferred
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through NBRC
- ACLS and BLS certification required
- NRP certification required for those placed in L&D (can be obtained once offered)
- PALS certification preferred
- Indiana state license required if applicable
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Labor & Delivery experience required
- Children's hospital experience within the last 3 years required, or Level I adult trauma facility experience considered
- NICU or PICU experience required
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to neonatal patients primarily in the Labor & Delivery setting
- Perform ventilator management including CPAP, weaning, and troubleshooting alarms
- Manage airway care including suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy care
- Administer a range of respiratory medications via various delivery systems
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Candidates who were previously perm or PRN employees of the health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Indiana residents are considered local
