Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring an active Minnesota RN license and prior neuro nursing experience.

Details

• Work in a 45-bed Neuroscience Spine Unit, including an 8-bed Neuro Progressive Care Unit (NPCU) step-down area
• Utilizes a Team Nursing model (RN, LPN, NA) on the general unit and a Primary Nurse model (RN, NA) in the NPCU
• Patient ratios range from 4-7 patients depending on team composition, with 1:3 ratios in the NPCU
• Unit features ICP monitoring, arterial line monitoring, cardiac monitoring, continuous EEG monitoring, and lumbar drainage systems
• Remote cardiac monitoring available in all patient rooms, with ceiling lifts in 20 rooms
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend rotation required with rotating holiday coverage
• On-call requirements determined by unit needs
• May float to like units including surgical care, medical units, and inpatient rehab
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active Minnesota RN license required in hand or proof of application submitted
• Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Neuro experience required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response required
• Familiarity with Rapid Response/Code team protocols required
• Must complete Livescan fingerprinting in person in Minnesota prior to start date

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level II Trauma acute care hospital
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live more than 25 miles from the facility to be considered
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted per assignment, with no time off allowed during the first 2 weeks
• Must complete required lab work and fingerprinting within 48 hours of signing the contract
• Holiday coverage required as needed by the facility
