Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level I Trauma Center night shift position requiring recent Level I or II trauma experience and NE or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center, Pediatric Certified, and Comprehensive Stroke Center acute care setting
• 20-bed ER with 5 trauma bays, 10 OBS beds, and hallway beds
• Fast Track area with 6 beds and separate triage area with 3 beds
• Nights shift, 12-hour shifts from 7p-7a
• EPIC EMR used
• Patient ratios: 1:4 in zones, 1:6 in Fast Track, 1:5 in OBS, 1:1 in ICU/Trauma
• Common diagnoses include trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and stroke (TPA)
• ED physicians and mid-levels staffed on all shifts, with a charge nurse on each shift
• Nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters staffed at set ratios
• Tele/monitor techs available, but RNs must read and interpret their own strips
• Floating required to OBS unit and Freestanding Creighton ER at least once weekly
• Weekend and holiday requirements vary based on department needs
• Onboarding includes 1 week of orientation, with 2 shifts at the main facility and 1 shift at an urgent care location

Requirements

• Active RN license, NE or compact, required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (NRP preferred)
• Recent Level I or Level II trauma experience required
• Driver's license required at time of consideration to confirm residency distance
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity Level I Trauma Center
• Read and interpret own telemetry strips without dedicated monitor tech support
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas per facility policy
• Must pass a pass/fail skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• RTO must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
