Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Long Term Acute Care Medical Rehabilitation Unit position requiring a CT or compact RN license and 1-2 years of experience.

Details

• Work in the Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU) of a Long Term Acute Care hospital, treating medically complex rehabilitation patients with cardiac monitoring
• Patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wound care, CAPD, and vent patients in a medical (non-traditional Med/Surg) environment
• Patient ratios are 1:7 on day/evening shifts and 1:9 on nights
• Will consider either 3x12 or 5x8 schedules; those working 12-hour shifts float after 8 hours
• Every other weekend required
• Floats to sister unit CMU, with possible additional floating for 12-hour shift staff
• Nurses do not manage ventilators, as respiratory therapists handle vent care

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory or ventilated patients strongly preferred
• Willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide medical declination; personal or religious declinations not accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include IV starts, administering drips and blood, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
• Orientation occurs every Monday
