Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring AWHONN Advanced certification and independent expertise in sterile vaginal exams.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in the Labor and Delivery unit
- 320 staffed beds
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Every other weekend required and may exceed to meet unit needs
- Floating required to Mother Baby unit
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Meditech charting system
- Free parking available
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, though candidates with slightly less experience may be considered (1.5 years is a hard minimum)
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to perform sterile vaginal exams independently without supervision
- Expert-level Labor and Delivery skills required, including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and fetal monitoring
- Experience with medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline
- Experience with antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care procedures
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal care in the delivery room
- Perform fetal monitoring including external and internal methods and IUPC placement
- Support breastfeeding and lactation per baby-friendly protocols
- Scrub color for L&D/OR staff is provided by the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO must be submitted at time of application, with minimal flexibility afterward
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the state
