Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 2+ years of OR experience and float capability to multiple surgical specialties.

Details

• 13-week assignment in a 14-room Operating Room department, including coverage for C-sections in Labor & Delivery
• Pediatric to adult patient population
• Provides surgical care across all specialties except cardiac and ophthalmology
• Average of 50 procedures performed per day
• Day shift, 7am-5:30pm, with flexibility to evenings if needed
• No weekend requirements
• On-call required approximately once per month, if needed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Primarily a circulating role, with scrub experience considered a valuable additional skill

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required (compact license not accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of current OR experience required
• Recent travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Scrub and circulate experience required
• Float experience to vascular, ortho, trauma, general surgery, robotic, urology, and ENT required
• Strong skills in vascular and orthopedic surgery required
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must have a valid driver's license and own vehicle
• Negative 14-panel drug screen required within 24 hours of offer acceptance
• Supervisory reference from within the past two years required
• Current Nursys license verification and certification documents required with profile
• Permanent address must match driver's license or state ID

Additional Information

• Responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care for surgical patients before, during, and after procedures
• Duties include maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment, patient education, and monitoring physical and emotional well-being throughout the surgical care continuum
• Completion of Welle, CPI, or PMCS verbal de-escalation training required for all new and returning agency staff as of 1/1/2024
• COVID vaccination encouraged but not required
• Candidates residing in Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, or Washington counties will not be considered
• Requested time off must be submitted and verified prior to assignment start; no more than 5 days of RTO permitted, and no additional RTO requests will be approved after start
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation required
