Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring MO or compact RN licensure and at least 1.5-2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Medical Specialties unit is a 57 max capacity floor servicing internal medicine patients with a wide range of diagnoses
• Rooms feature video monitoring, sitter rooms, ceiling lifts, and bariatric accommodations
• Charge nurse and supervisor present on every shift
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Average patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights, with days occasionally going up to 1:6 and nights up to 1:7
• Mandatory floating to MS and MS/Tele units
• Cerner charting system preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license required at time of consideration, no pending licenses accepted
• BLS certification required; CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, though 1.5 years of Med/Surg experience will be considered for quality candidates
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry preferred
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to internal medicine patients with a wide range of medical diagnoses
• Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Work in a healthcare facility operating 24/7/365, with routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
• Rotating shifts, weekend work, and inclement weather coverage may be required
• Required to work 50% of holidays falling within the contract period, with flexibility on which holidays are selected to meet this requirement
• RTO not granted for holidays but scheduling will be coordinated with the traveler
• Maximum of 10 RTO days permitted, none during the first week due to orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible; those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered a local rate
• Travelers can work up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (or 9 months of consecutive service), followed by a mandatory 6-month break before returning in an agency capacity
• Returning travelers within 18 months are not required to complete re-orientation
