Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN for a BMT Oncology unit requiring at least 1 year of oncology/chemotherapy experience and ONS/ONCC certification.
Details
- Inpatient BMT Oncology unit within a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Trauma hospital
- Patient ratio of 4:1 across all shifts
- Average daily census of 30 with 32 beds/rooms
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required throughout the Oncology service line based on need
- Care includes autologous stem cell transplants and chemotherapy administration
- EPIC EMR used, experience preferred
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification required
- Minimum 1 year of oncology/chemotherapy experience required
- Must pass Relias EKG exam covering dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Skilled in chemotherapy administration, port access/management, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Skilled in Foley catheter insertion/management and isolation precautions
- Experience caring for BMT patients, including graft-versus-host disease and stem cell therapies preferred
- Knowledge of oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and sepsis preferred
Additional Information
- Provide direct care for oncology and BMT patients, including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
- Administer and monitor blood products, IV therapies, and antiemetic/antibiotic medications
- Recognize and manage chemotherapy-related complications and oncologic emergencies
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers will be considered for this role
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of orientation
- Travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
- Previous permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any facility within the health system as a traveler
