Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with cardiovascular and general surgery experience for a 13-week assignment at a Level IV Trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- Operating Room unit within a short-term acute care facility
- Average daily census of 22 cases
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45am-7:15pm)
- Every other weekend required
- Uses Cerner and Accudose charting systems
- On-call requirement of 1 day per week plus 1-2 weekends per 4-5 week schedule
- 30-minute response time required when on call
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years RN experience required
- Minimum 1 year in-specialty (OR) experience required
- Circulate and scrub experience required
- Cardiovascular and general surgery experience required, including CABG, vein harvesting, and radial artery harvesting
- Proficiency required in vascular, orthopedic, general, ENT, urology, robotics, and GYN surgical procedures
- Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required
- Candidates must have permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility (75-100 miles considered case-by-case)
Additional Information
- Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital affiliated with the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
- Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue, White, or a combination of both
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption documented; not required outside this window
- Free parking provided for travelers
- Orientation held every other Thursday
- First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
- Former CAMC permanent employees must wait 2 years from last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
- Current employees of Vandalia Health System entities (including CAMC, Mon Health, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
- Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
