Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift position at a large adult and pediatric acute care hospital, requiring OH RRT license in hand and NRP certification prior to start.

Details

• 700-bed hospital with 7 adult ICUs of 16 beds each, plus pediatric and adult acute care units
• Patient population includes adults, geriatrics, and pediatric patients including Peds ER
• Treats respiratory diagnoses such as asthma, COPD, emphysema, and pneumonia, along with non-pulmonary conditions
• Performs airway management, ventilator management, ABG sampling and analysis, and assists with intubation/extubation
• Responds to rapid responses and emergency codes, including CPR
• Utilizes equipment including Servo I, Avea, and Bella Vista ventilators
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:30 to 7:00
• Floating required as needed within the Metro Region between Toledo, Flower, and Bay Park Hospitals, including mid-shift floating
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• RRT certification required
• OH RRT license required in hand for consideration; license required if applicable
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required (NRP must be obtained prior to start if not already held)
• PALS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience required, occurring after license was obtained
• Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department work setting experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• High-risk delivery assist experience preferred; on-site training available if not experienced
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skilled in airway management devices including ETT, tracheostomy, and nasal/oral airway suctioning
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Medication administration experience with Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, and Xopenex
• ABG interpretation skills required

Additional Information

• Provides both general and critical respiratory care across diagnoses and age groups, including basic pediatric respiratory care
• Assists with invasive line maintenance, including changing tubing and bags on arterial lines (preferred experience)
• Performs bronchoscopy patient care
• Works as part of a multidisciplinary team responding to emergency situations and rapid responses
• Grey scrub color required
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval, and time off is not permitted around holidays
• Returning staff must have a 1-year gap since last worked as permanent staff
• Floating to other units or facilities within the Metro Region is an expectation for all travelers
