Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk unit requiring an active AK RN license, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced certification, and NRP certification.

Details

• Work in a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit within a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma acute care hospital
• Unit includes 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
• Average of 7 deliveries daily, with up to 14 patients during high inductions and antepartum census
• OB Triage averages 4-5 third trimester testing patients plus daily triage influx
• Facility performs 100-200 births per month
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours, working every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• May float to like units within the facility or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Uses Epic charting system
• Block scheduling not accommodated

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required in hand for consideration
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP
• Epic charting experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred or willingness to train as charge
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management, including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and sterile vaginal exams
• Experience with fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Experience caring for patients with pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, PROM, and VBAC management preferred
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include neonatal care in the delivery room, newborn assessments, antepartum care, and postpartum care management
• Provide medication administration including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and pitocin
• Support high-risk conditions including multiple gestation, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Parking is free
• Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Former Providence permanent staff must be separated for a minimum of 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may work a maximum of 1 calendar year at this facility before requiring a 6-month break prior to returning
• Facility only accepts Hepatitis B vaccination; titers or declinations are not accepted
• Housing options in the area may be limited
• RTO requests must be submitted at time of application and are approved individually upon offer
