Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring critical care skills, drip titration experience, and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications.
Details
- Acute care ICU with 16 beds and 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios
- Common diagnoses include cardiac and respiratory conditions
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Levophed, Propofol, Insulin, Dopamine, Neosynephrine, and Precedex
- Hospitalist or intensivist available in house
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7 with full ventilator, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment access
- No monitor techs on the unit; RNs read their own telemetry strips
- No nurse aides on the unit
- Charge Nurse and House Supervisor support available on all shifts
- Uses MEDITECH EMR
- Shifts scheduled 0645-1915 or 1845-0715, days
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday requirement of 1 major and 1 minor holiday
- May be placed on call for low census with a 30-minute response time requirement
- Contract RNs float first per union contract, with efforts made to rotate floating fairly
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
Requirements
- Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for the state of submission required, pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Acute care and critical care experience required
- Experience titrating common ICU drips required
- OR RN license eligibility required (can apply for the 90-day OR Emergency License; OR license not required at time of submission)
- Driver's license required at time of consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to critically ill cardiac and respiratory patients in a fast-paced ICU setting
- Work closely with in-house hospitalists/intensivists and 24/7 respiratory therapy support
- Dress code requires solid-color scrubs in black, cocoa brown, charcoal grey, navy blue, or khaki
- Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
